Over Memorial weekend Tyler and I took a trip down south. Kimmy and Brandon joined us on our trip. We all know that the best laid plans always go astray, but oh well right? Our first plan was to meet up with my family and stay one night in Torrey which is a town just a few minutes away from Capitol Reef. So Friday night we were to drive up, stay with my parents for the night then head out in the morning to go drive through Capitol Reef’s scenic drive. After that we were headed off to go and visit the Grand Canyon. Then drive back home all day Sunday. Instead we met up with my family Friday night two hours later than planned because we got stuck in some major traffic. We pretty much settled straight into bed and that was Friday. Saturday we spent the morning relaxing and kinda unanimously decided that we’d rather stay with my family for the day instead of driving to the Grand Canyon. So instead of taking off early that morning we took it easy and relaxed at camp. Once morning started to bleed into afternoon we started to get out on the four wheelers and dune buggies. I had never been on a four wheeler before and it was super fun! Tyler was a little crazy for me, but I still enjoyed it. After a couple trips on the four wheelers, Kimmy pointed out to me that my thighs were really red. So we headed back to camp. Turns out I didn’t remember to get sunscreen on so my legs are fried. At that point I decided to call it a day and just relax back at camp. Kimmy stayed back with me and we hung out with my mom and the rest the girls. Brandon and Tyler decided to go back out on the four wheelers. All was going well until everyone else outside of the trailer (we went to a family friend’s parent’s property, so there was like five different families there) started running toward the trailhead, we knew something was wrong. It took a long while to figure out what was going on and there was a lot of different stories floating around. Eventually we got it all straight. A mom and son were riding on the dune buggy and it rolled over. The mom hit her head and her 17 year old son crushed his hand under the roll cage. Tyler and Brandon saw the accident and started over to help, but were told to head back to camp to get some help. Tyler sped off down the trail to head to camp. As he was coming around the last bend, he nearly toppled the four wheeler over. He fell on his left side, scraped himself up pretty good, and even knocked his shoes off. Once everyone got back to camp, the family of the injured took off to the after hour clinic to get checked out. Tyler ended up being okay. Honestly Tyler is always super lucky and somehow he came out way less injured than he should be. He was knocked off so hard that along with his shoes, somehow his wedding ring fell off. But don’t worry we were able to find the ring a while later. Saturday was such a busy day that we all went to bed semi early and I slept really well. Sunday morning we got packed up and headed out from camp around 10. The four of us plus the dogs took a drive to Capitol Reef and enjoyed the many views. After we left the park we headed home and that was pretty much the end of the trip. I loved every minute of the trip. It was really fun being able to bring Hagrid along with us. He did so well with my parents dogs as well as the other dogs there. In fact he did really well the entire time. I used to say I’m not a “dog person” but that might be changing. Don’t get me wrong I still love the cats more, but it’s been really really fun to have a pet you can bring with you to these tips of places/trips. That’s all from me, the trip was great and I still will get to the Grand Canyon, but that’s for later. Thank you for reading! PS check out my vlog of the trip too!

I can't believe that May is already almost over! This month has flown by and I've done quite a lot. I've really loved working on my one second a day this month, it's made me more creative and I look for normal parts of my day to capture. I also have gotten a lot of chances to take photos. I even did a super fun shoot today with Kimmy! You'll have to be on the lookout for those photos once I get them edited. May has also been largely focused around our new puppy Hagrid. Getting him settled and starting to train him. It certainly has kept us really busy. Along with my monthly photo dump, I want to have my last Motivation Monday of the month set some goals for the next month. So for June I want to post more consistently on social media, especially of my photography. My goal is for once a week on instagram and once a day on twitter. Along with that goal I want to get back into working out. So for June I will get to the gym three times a week. This way I can ease back into it. Follow my blog with Bloglovin Now here's my photo dump! These Senior Pictures were so fun to take! Mikelle was so great to work with and so beautiful! Another shoot that was so funny. Kimmy looks so pretty in this garden. Not really sure if you guys want to see my geckos weights but I thought it’s a fun update every once in a while. 🤷🏼♀️ But man they sure are getting big. :) Hope everyone has a fabulous June and that May was wonderful!
So this post was so much fun to participate in! I think next month I will post each little update rather than dump them all in one post. But this is a trial run and I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did! (read to the end to see the book for next month!)
4/24 I am now on page 70. So far I’m still a little confused as to what’s going on, but that might be the point as the main character Etta is also very confused. I’m hoping to get a clearer picture as to what’s happening in the story. I also am not sure I enjoy the different points of view between Etta and Nicholas. However it might grow on me. Question for this up to page 70: How do you think Etta got on the ship? 4/28 I have now reached chapter eight on page 165. This book has gotten so much better and I am hooked. The idea of time travel and the issues it ensues is interesting to read. I also am enjoying the switching points of view more. The tension between Etta and Nicholas is beginning to build and I’m not sure if I’m fully supportive yet. All I want to know is what Nicholas did to make Sofia hate him. But I’m sure we’ll find out eventually. Question for the first seven chapters: Why do you think Grandfather Ironwood wants Etta so badly? And why did he have to kidnap her to do so? 5/8 I just finished chapter 12 on page 297. I’m getting hooked and am wanting to just read until I am finished. I still am unsure if I support Nicholas and Etta. I’m really weary of him. So this is a short update but next question is: Do you think Nicholas really cares about Etta or is he just using her feelings for him as a way to get close to her and use her? Since this book is about time travel though, I want to throw in a quick fun question about time travel. If you could travel anywhere in time, when would you go to? Where would you go to? And why? 5/11 I am now just 38 pages away from the end of this book so I wanted to write down my guess on how it will end before I go over how I feel about the book as a whole. I am starting to really like Nicholas and Etta as a couple and am honestly kinda sad it took this long to like their relationship. The search for the astroblade is getting intense and i am curious to see what Etta ends up doing. I really am annoyed that Sofia felt the need to take over the search, she’s really just hungry for all the attention and that bothers me. I’m also very worried about Nicholas and hope he shows up just in time to save the day. My last question for this book is: Which is the lesser of the two evils in your opinion? Giving the astroblade to Grandfather or giving it to Sofia and why? Now onto the ending! 5/11 Pg. 470. Omg she could not have just died! This is not the ending I expected and I’m not loving it either. Omg she’s not dead. A wrinkle? Like a wrinkle in time?? So I was under the impression that this book was a stand alone novel, but I have a feeling that it’s not. That’s alright with me though. I feel like it just got interesting and am left wanting more. Overall I enjoyed the book but about halfway though was when I couldn’t put it down. I hope you enjoyed it just as much as I did! Thanks for reading along with me! For the month of June I’ve decided to read Turtles All The Way Down by John Green. I have enjoyed reading Green’s other books and am excited to check this one out. Here is a short description of the book and a picture of the cover. Hope you choose to read it with me! Sixteen-year-old Aza never intended to pursue the mystery of fugitive billionaire Russell Pickett, but there’s a hundred-thousand-dollar reward at stake and her Best and Most Fearless Friend, Daisy, is eager to investigate. So together, they navigate the short distance and broad divides that separate them from Russell Pickett’s son, Davis. Aza is trying. She is trying to be a good daughter, a good friend, a good student, and maybe even a good detective, while also living within the ever-tightening spiral of her own thoughts. So Spring has sprung and I feel like I missed most of it. Like I said in my Spring bucket list post, Spring in Utah is like three weeks long. We got several snow storms in April and my flowers barely survived. But here’s what I was able to accomplish in the short season.
I made a bird feeder! Although I have yet to see a bird eating from it… Hopefully now that it’s really getting warmer I’ll see some bird visitors. I was able to plan my flowers, and yes they did survive all the snow :) I am loving having some fresh plants around the apartment. I did not have a picnic in the park. Whenever I planned on going out for the picnic the weather decided that it just wasn’t going to happen. Maybe this Summer Kimmy and I went out to feed the ducks and it was super super fun. I loved every moment of it and think we will be going to do it more often. (a quick FYI you should not feed ducks bread, it isn’t good for them and pollutes the water, frozen corn or rice are much better options) Hagrid and I walked the Jordan River Parkway one morning last month. And while I was hoping to see more of it, my poor little puppy got too tired. I even had to carry him back to the car cuz he wouldn’t walk. Since I live in an apartment my veggie garden is more of an herb garden, but I love it either way. I’ve successfully grown lots of cilantro and basil with a few sprouts of rosemary. I did not make it to any garage sales this Spring cleaning season and I’m pretty disappointed. Since I’ve been working almost every weekend and my job it’s made it so I can’t make it to the Saturday morning sales. But now i’ve got a new job so maybe this Summer I’ll be able to hit them up! I also did not make any homemade lemonade. To be honest I don’t really like lemonade so i don’t know why I put it on my list.. Spring was so fun for how short it was. I am looking forward to an awesome Summer. Last week I was really excited to have a good week of self care. I also made a goal to make a self care goal for each week. Last week it was to find some moments of alone time. Well I really only found one moment and it was while I was walking the dog one morning. I went to daybreak, my favorite place. It was a nice moment. This week I want to spend some extra time reading. I’ve been enjoying reading recently and I want to keep it up. :)
otherwise this past week has been pretty chill. I impulse adopted a beta fish and I already love him to death. So I also got some friends for him, three fish, two snails, and a live plant. I’m loving my mini aquarium. For next week im totally looking forward to the long memorial weekend. Tyler and I are going camping and visiting the Grand Canyon. Im so excited to visit somewhere new. I’ll share all about it next week :) Happy Monday to everyone!! 💕 |
