On July 3rd I got to throw a 4th of July party for some of our closest friends. Ever since I moved out I've wanted to throw a party. One of those Pinterest parties. You know where everything is planned out so careful and perfect. Well I threw myself into making this party as close to Pinterest worthy as I could. About a week of planning went into this party and I loved every minuet of it. : I started with the decorations. You guys already heard about my cute door wreath :) (if not click here) All my guests commented on how cute it was. It was seriously so easy too. Comment below with an email and I'll send you the instructions :) My decor inside was also super cute :) I got the cute red white and blue candles and bowls from Target. I mean who doesn't love Target? I also got the cute USA tray and wood letters from Target. Ps the candles smell AMAZING! (I might have a huge candle obsession) I also made a last minuet craft out of mason jars. I spent just one night painting the jars to look like a flag. I loved the way they turned out and they were the perfect size to hold the straws and utinsels. Now onto the food!! Most of the food I had never made before so it was definitely learning process for me. First I made jello filled strawberries. This treat was a party favorite yet turned out sloppy and were hard to make. The recipe I followed said to cut off the tops of the strawberries and scoop out the middles. Then to cut off enough of the bottom to make them stand flat. You then pour the jello into the strawberries and let them solidify. Well the cutting part of this had some errors and I got some holes in my strawberries and that's no good since it didn't hold the jello. My next oops was when I filled them with the jello. I think I should have let the liquid jello cool a little more before pouring it into my strawberries. Because I poured the super hot jello in too soon it kinda made my strawberries go mushy. Now that I've made them once, my next batch will be much better and that's really good because this food was the biggest party hit. The rest of the food was pretty simple. I made a cute American flag fruit tray Filled my star bowls with white fruit dip, red salsa, and blue m&ms. I had a bunch of fun with the drinks :) I love large drink depensers and couldn't wait to use my large mason jar style one. I filled it up blueberries, strawberries, and pineapple cut in the shape of stars. This drink was certainly a party hit! Going with the theme of mason jars, I planned to make red white and blue layered drinks. I saw them on Pinterest and thought they were super cute! Well they turned out to be a major fail. The diffferent colored drinks were supposed to stay separated because of their various levels of sugar content. Well that totally didn't work. The colors stayed separated for approximately two seconds and then mixed together to form a purpley color. (Although it did taste good) Still wanting to have red white and blue drinks I organized the jars into rows and filled each up with just one of the colored drinks. I had such a wonderful time planning this party. While lots didn't go as planned we still had lots of fun and everything turned out super cute. :)
Happy 4th of July everyone!
