Part one of the beautiful love story that Tyler and I share
It’s late winter and I’m 15 years old.
I had just gotten a new seating chart in my freshman science class. This switch moved me to a table with my three (and only) friends in the class. Score! Cameron, Lisa, Tyler and I were excited to be in our new group and caused nothing but trouble.
At this time I had a big crush on Cameron. Gasp! I know. Wait what? Tyler and I were not love at first sight. Shocker. That’s okay though because about a week into the new seats, Tyler started to notice me. Aaand I was oblivious.
Tyler says he tried to drop subtle hints, but I didn’t notice. That is I didn’t notice until he made “the move”. I call it “the move” because it’s what made me notice Tyler.
We were working on a group project that required small and large tissue paper to make a hot air balloon. We were to first make a model out of the small paper and then build the actual balloon with the large tissue paper.
Well Tyler was confused, or so I thought. He asked the group “Will our final balloon be this big?” holding up his hands just a few inches apart, “Or this big?” He then put his arms out wide, putting one behind me.
Cameron laughed out loud and claimed Tyler just wanted to put his arm around me. Man did I blush!
But while I was laughing it off, I took a look at this boy next ot me, with his blonde shag (yes I know I know, but it was the style back then) and his red cheeks something changed. I went home that weekend very confused.
I spent the weekend thinking about that silly boy and on Monday I got his phone number “for a friend”. (Hey what do you expect I was 15 and easily embarrassed)
Well we began texting and quickly shared that we liked each other. (oh middle school romances) From there we got together (approximately February 17th) and by the time summer vacation came we had only held hands and hugged. Ha we took it sloooow.
With such awkward beginnings, who would’ve thought we could last, but this is just the beginning of our story. ❤️
I’ll be sharing more of the story of Tyler and I in later posts, so keep an eye out.
