On Wednesday Tyler and I moved into our new apartment that we’re going to share with Amanda. It was a crazy day and we ended up almost not getting our new keys. But thankfully things got sorted out and we picked up our new keys at 4pm. Then we went crazy and started to move all the stuff we own; and I learned that we have far too much stuff. Next up with our bad luck is the weather. It was raining off and on the ENTIRE time we were moving. It was so crazy wet and cold. But with some help from my incredibly amazing friends and family we got everything moved in just under four hours. Seriously I would not know what to do with my life if I didn’t have my family there to help me. I love them. So this apartment we moved into is seriously nice. It’s a two bedroom with a lot larger living space with room for an actual dining table! My closet is also seriously huge! I’ll have to post a video tour of the place once we get everything unpacked, which feels like we won’t be done for months. Another bonus for this apartment, and one we weren’t expecting was the garage! That’s right. This unit comes with a garage. It’s so awesome because we can also park our other two vehicles right behind the garage so we don’t have to search for parking spots anymore! This apartment is also on the first floor which is already so much better than the third floor and it’s only been three days. Like seriously it’s so nice not to carry groceries up that many stairs. And we haven’t heard any noises from upstairs either. I love this unit and am excited to spend the next year in this apartment!

I love planning trips. Like seriously love it. So when I decided to plan a fun surprise trip for Tyler’s 21st birthday I was stoked. I wanted to keep our destination a surprise, but in the end that didn’t work well. Usually I SUCK at keeping secrets; especially from Tyler. But this time I did an amazing job. I started planning this trip back in December and was able to keep it all a surprise until like two weeks ago. My mom was over visiting and she let slip that we were headed to Vegas. She felt awful about it, but honestly I was shocked it stayed a secret for so long. So early Saturday morning Tyler and I loaded up in the car and hit the road. We stopped at McDonalds for breakfast and then started on our 5 hour drive. The drive wasn’t exactly a blast as most long drives through nowhereville are, but we finally made it to Vegas and got checked into our hotel. We stayed at the Rita Suites. It was a fairly cheap motel because I didn’t have a huge budget for our trip and I feel like I got what I paid for. The hotel was simple and not exactly the most clean and the light switches were all located outside of the rooms they were for. Like the light switch for the bathroom was on the outside of the door inside the bedroom. It was so strange and it was something I just couldn’t get over. After we got settled, Tyler and I were ready for some lunch. We headed out to the downtown container park. It was SOOO cute. It was this hip little shopping district that is made out of shipping containers. It’s a cool atmosphere. In the center of all the shopping centers was a beautiful and fun looking playground. It was totally family friendly and I would totally recommend it if you’re traveling to Las Vegas with kids. There we found a pizza place called Stoned N Baked. It was $10 for each of us to get a small personal sized pizza that honestly was just okay. So that was kinda a bummer. We didn’t stay at the container park for long because it was super cold and windy outside and I didn’t think to pack a jacket. We then took a quick walk down Fremont Street. I tried to convince Tyler to ride the zipline, but he didn’t want to (I wasn’t surprised, rides really aren’t his thing). So we just watched all the street performers and then headed back to the hotel to warm up. For dinner we ate at the small bar that was inside our hotel. We split a philly cheesesteak and it was Ahhmazing! I loved it. I also ordered a long island iced tea. It was okay not really my favorite drink. But it was pretty cool to have our first experience of eating at a bar. I want to try out a few once we get home and settled into the new apartment, so if you have a favorite bar in the Salt Lake area please share it with me! Then we drove back out to Fremont Street. This time it was a lot busier and we had to get checked by security before entering the main part of the street. Once we were in we headed to the D Bar and got some slushies. I ordered a pina colada which was just okay. Tyler got a crown and coke and it was so good. It seems that Tyler always orders the good drinks and I get the ones that are just eh. Then we strolled the strip with our drinks. We found a shot glass to add to our collection. (We have this tradition of getting a shot glass from anywhere we travel to, adorable right?) We didn’t stay out very late, in fact I think we were back in bed by 9:30. It was still freezing so that may have contributed to the early night. The next morning we got up and go ready to head out for a full day on The Strip. We ate breakfast at the hotel since it was complementary. They had some wonderfully delicious diced potatoes. Man I’m still craving them they were so good. After breakfast we called an uber (My very first one!!) and got a ride to the Welcome to Las Vegas sign. The sign was busy and we had to wait in line for a photo, but there was this awesome dude there that was donating his time to take photos for the tourists. We got some super cute photos there, then we headed off to walk the strip. We didn’t really do too much on the strip. I was mostly excited for the Bellagio's fountain and garden. On our way there we stopped at the Luxor and sat down at this really cool bar called Aurora. It had a beautiful light display over the bar that imitated the northern lights. It was so cool. There I got a different version of a long island iced tea that was once again just okay. Tyler got a drink called the northern lights and it was AMAZING. Like seriously my favorite drink of the whole trip. Then we got to the fountain at Bellagio. I would’ve stayed there all day and just watched the water shows. There’s just something about water that I love. But Tyler was ready to move on after just one show. So we headed inside to see the gardens. Well we came to find out that the gardens were closed because they were taking down the Chinese New Year decorations they had up. I was so bummed. I had never seen the gardens before and now I wouldn’t be able to this trip. After that the strip was just kind of a walking through everything. Nothing else really caught our attention. I had planned to eat at Gordon Ramsay Burger for lunch because Tyler loves cooking and is totally into all the star chefs. It took us FOREVER to find the entrance of Planet Hollywood that lead us to the right place. By the time we did finally find it, I was super hangry. Well too bad for me, we had to wait in a line to get seated and it took about 45 minutes. Once we did get seated it also took like 5 minutes for our server to even greet us. But we got our food and drinks ordered as soon as the server got there. When the food finally came out it looked amazing. And boy it was totally worth the wait. The burgers were so delicious. I got the hog burger and it was so good. Tyler ordered the lobster and shrimp burger. It was amazing too, but honestly I liked my burger more. The fries were so bland and they didn’t come with a sauce we liked so we didn’t eat too much of those. With lunch I ordered a jack and coke, which is one of my favorite drinks, and Tyler got a corona. After lunch we went to Caesars Palace. This is another of my favorites. I just love the ancient Rome architecture and decor. There we found a bar called Numb and ordered some more slushies. I got a drink called hazy kush. It was actually really yummy and since I added an extra shot of vodka to mine, it got me a little tipsy. I would totally go back to this bar so if you’re looking for a place in Caesars check it out. After our drinks we stayed there for quite awhile walking around and just checking everything out. Once we were done there, we called an uber to take us back to the hotel and we napped. Well our nap ended up being like two hours long so once we woke up we were hungry. We headed out to the all you can eat sushi bar I wanted to try. We sat at the sushi bar and ordered a lion roll, a caterpillar roll, a lobster pop roll, and a tiger roll. We decided to stick to the stuff we knew we would like. The lobster roll was the only new one and it was so delicious. I hope to find something similar to it here at home. While the lobster roll was a hit, the rest of the rolls were subpar. Our favorite places back at home definitely beat it. But we enjoyed dinner. After dinner we were trying to decide what to do, but after such a long day with so much walking, our legs hurt and we were just super tired. So instead of going out and partying, we decided to head back to the hotel and call it a night. The next morning we packed up and got ready to check out of the hotel, but not before I got some more of those amazing diced potatoes. We got back on the road and made it home around 3 in the afternoon. It was so nice to have the rest of the evening to relax at home. Overall it was a great trip and I had a lot of fun. Happy Birthday baby! PS I vlogged the trip! So you should check out my video here! So I wanted to start out saying I’m not going to be posting as regularly on my blog as I used to. I have decided to focus more on quality rather than quantity which to me means less posts to make them better. I also have started a vlog that is something I already adore. I am really loving filming and surprisingly, being behind the camera has given me a lot more confidence. So be sure to check that out on my youtube channel, I’ll attach it to the bottom of this post. Okay now onto the point of this blog post. I wanted to take some time today to share about my tattoos with you. I have three tattoos currently and really love every single one. My first tattoo that I got is on my right wrist. It’s the scorpio constellation which is my zodiac sign. I placed it off center towards the inside of my wrist and I love it. It’s in a spot where I can see it and it makes me smile everytime I do. It’s super simple and delicate. I think it’s beautiful.. The second tattoo I have is on my left arm just below the bend of my elbow. It was a super painful placement, but this tattoo has a lot of meaning so it was totally worth it. It’s a triangle with the point facing my hand. On the outside side of the triangle the roman numerals 9 8 2017 which is mine and Tyler’s wedding date. He has a matching one in the same spot on his right arm with the point of the triangle facing up. We got it on our honeymoon and I think it’s really sweet that I have a reminder of him on my arm. My final tattoo is behind my left ear and was the least painful of them all. It’s the three stars from the corner of the Harry Potter book pages. I love Harry Potter and this small tattoo seems perfect to have for my fandom. I don’t think I’ll be getting another tattoo any time soon. To me they are super painful and make me really anxious when receiving them. In the long run they are worth it, but I don’t think I’m mentally ready for another. In the meantime I’m sure Tyler will be getting several more. He already has seven tattoos with more to come. So now you know a little more about me. Don’t forget to check out my vlog!! |
